Op Shops and Second-hand Stores – Saving Money & Boosting Sustainability in the Blue Mountains
In the Blue Mountains we’re lucky to have a wide array of Op Shops, Antique and Second-Hand stores that provide the community with clothing, toys, homewares, furniture and much more.
Buying from these stores is a win-win-win: you save money, your money goes back into the local community and not into corporate profits, and unwanted goods find a new home instead of ending up in landfill. This circular economy is a boost for sustainability in the Mountains.
Better still, many of the Op Shops are run by charitable organisations, so your purchases and your donations help the community in many ways.
Recently, Katoomba Local News and Lower Mountains Local News published guides to the Op Shops, Antique and Second-Hand stores in the Katoomba and Lower Mountains areas. These cover what’s on offer, as well as what you can donate.
