Nominations for 2022 Citizenship Awards

By Lithgow City Council
Posted: 5 Nov 2021
Lithgow City Council is encouraging the community to nominate local individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to the Lithgow LGA.

“Our community has once again banded together and become stronger,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Ray Thompson. “Through the ongoing challenges of 2021 the generosity, dedication, and care we have for one another within our community has been outstanding.” The Citizenship Awards are an opportunity to celebrate our resilient spirit, and I urge everyone to nominate someone or an organisation deserving of recognition.”

The NSW Local Citizenship Award categories are:

  • Volunteer of the Year Award (Young Citizen and Open Citizen)
  • Citizen Achievement Award (Young Citizen and Open Citizen)
  • Heritage Conservation Award
  • Service to the Community Award (Organisation)
  • Outstanding Event Award

The Volunteer of the Year Award is for people who have given their time freely to help the community within the Lithgow LGA.

The Citizen Achievement Award is for those who have excelled in their chosen field which may include academia, business, the arts and sciences or community service. The Young Citizen Category is for people between the ages of 16 and 26, while the Open Category is for all ages over 26 years.

The Heritage Conservation Award is for an individual or an organisation that has made significant contribution to the preservation of the heritage of the region.

The Service to the Community Award (Organisation) is for organisations which aim to enrich the lives of the people in the Lithgow area.  This organisation does not have to be a volunteer organisation.

The Outstanding Event Award recognises the significant contribution that special events make to our region.

Nomination forms can be found online at https://council.lithgow.com/community/australia-day/ or are available from the front counter of the Lithgow City Council Administration Centre and all Lithgow Library Branches. Nominations will close on Monday 22 November.

Winners of all awards will be announced Wednesday 26 January 2022 at the Official Ceremony.
