New Moves on the Way for Blue Mountains Dancer Thanks to NSW Funding
Jo has been selected as one of six dancers sharing 2018 support and will receive $5,000 as part of the NSW 2018 Innovating Dance Practice Grants funding initiative administered by AUSDANCE on behalf of Create NSW.
With this funding, Ms Clancy will join the Vancouver-based Dancers of Damelahamid through a cultural exchange at the group’s Coastal First Nations Dance Festival taking place at the Museum of Anthropology (Vancouver) in February-March 2019.
Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said, “It’s a real pleasure to be able to give our talented dancers across the State the opportunity to realise their full potential. I’m confident that this funding will help inspire and develop new works, expand their skillsets and provide unique experiences that will broaden their knowledge of the industry.”
Mr Mallard added, “This is fantastic news and I’m very grateful to the NSW Government for supporting our local dance community. It’s great to see Jo sharing in this funding and I’m excited to see her vision be brought to life!”
The NSW 2018 Innovating Dance Practice Grants funding is intended to assist professional dance practitioners residing in NSW to develop and innovate their practice.
Under the funding, six dance professionals from across regional NSW, Western Sydney and metropolitan areas will share $29,600 to undertake their respective professional development activities.
Funding of up to $5,000 per grant is available to help with costs such as artist fees, materials and equipment, travel (including international travel), venue/studio rental fees, registration fees, workshops, conferences and documentation.
