My Supports Receives Grant Funding to Expand NDIS Services
Mr Ayres said My Supports was founded and is managed by people with disability and their Neighbourhood Teams bring a mix of skills and provide a range of NDIS services including coordination, personal therapies and capacity building.
“I’m delighted My Supports was one of just 10 businesses across NSW that secured a grant from the NSW Government’s $19 million Disability Sector Scale-Up program to help them make the most of the NDIS rollout,” Mr Ayres said.
“My Supports is already doing great work in the disability space and this grant will help them expand and enhance their capacity to support and improve the quality of life for people with a disability all over NSW.”
My Supports Co-founder and Director Terry Mader said My Supports had pioneered the small local “Neighbourhood Team” model.
“We currently have 43 Neighbourhood Teams including Nepean Blue Mountains and across Australia focusing on ensuring people with disability are able to live, work and play within their local communities.
“The grant funding will help us work towards our target of having 118 teams in place to service NDIS clients by the end of 2018.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills and Small Business John Barilaro congratulated My Supports on their success in a very competitive grant program.
“More than 250 businesses applied for the Business Acceleration Grant program so as you can imagine competition was fierce,” Mr Barilaro said.
“While the businesses selected are exceptional and innovative, the quality of all applicants showcased the exciting opportunities for businesses with the rollout of the NDIS and I congratulate them all.”
Minister for Disability Services Ray Williams said the Disability Sector Scale-Up was a component of the NSW Government’s $100 million Smart, Skilled & Hired initiative.
“On top of Business Acceleration Grants, the DSSU will provide low cost advisory services for small businesses across the state through Business Connect to help them identify and capitalise on opportunities that emerge as a result of the NDIS."
