My Culture My Story – Brass, Beer, Methodism and Mining: the British Migrants who Shaped Lithgow
The photographic exhibition will be on display in the Library during regular library open hours from 1 to 25 May 2018, with a music and history speaker event to be held on 19 May from 10am to 1pm.
The theme for this year’s event is My Culture My Story. “Every person who comes to Australia brings aspects of their culture with them that enhances the life of a town,” said Mayor Stephen Lesslie. “So come to the library to hear about some of the earliest influences on the Lithgow community by the British migrants.”
Guest speakers for this event are Ray Christison speaking about the Methodist Miners, Vaughan Bryers speaking about William Mills, founder of the Zig Zag Brewery and a performance by the Lithgow City Band with a talk on the band’s history by Don White.
Bookings to attend these free History Talks can be made by contacting the Lithgow Library on 6352 9100. The event on Saturday 19 May, 2018 at 10am includes light refreshments.
