Mountainfilm on Tour - Blue Mountains
Mountainfilm on Tour is back! The 2019 Mountainfilm on Tour features the best short films from the annual Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. One word sets Mountainfilm apart from other tours - heart. Join us for a celebration of adventure, environment and the human spirit.
Selected screenings of this year’s tour will be presented live on stage by special guest emcee, Stephen Burns, who is travelling with the tour from Mountainfilm in Colorado. Plus attendees will have the chance to win awesome prizes from our tour partners, including Osprey Packs.
Mountainfilm is one of the world's best mountain film festivals, featured in the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World by MovieMaker magazine. The festival has been held in May each year since 1979, with the best films then touring more than 150 locations around the world.
Mountainfilm toured Australia and New Zealand for the first time in 2017 to rave reviews and is now in its third year. This year the tour will visit more than 50 locations across Australia and New Zealand between February and July 2019, as well as headlining the Cradle Mountain Film Fest.
This year’s film selection includes an awesome mix of short documentaries featuring the likes of climber Alex Honnold, ultra runner Kilian Jornet as well as mountaineering, mountain biking, expedition travel, cultural and environmental stories. This is an event to inspire you to take on the world and experience all it has to offer.
Mountainfilm on Tour is presented in Australia and New Zealand in partnership with Osprey Packs. It is supported by major sponsor G Adventures and supporting partners Kuhl, Rumpl, Garage Entertainment, Wild Magazine and The Crag.
Mountainfilm began in 1979 and is one of America’s longest-running film festivals. The festival is best described by one word: inspiring. In addition to screening leading independent documentary films from around the world, the festival includes a full-day symposium on contemporary issues, art and photography exhibits, early morning coffee talks, outdoor programs, a book-signing party, an ice cream social, student programs and a closing picnic/awards ceremony. Presentations and panels are scheduled throughout the weekend event with a wide diversity of special guests, ranging from artists to adventurers and academics to activists.
