With all teams showing great skill, determination and sportsmanship all children were true ambassadors for their schools and are to be congratulated for their energy and enthusiasm. Student’s performances were outstanding with many fine goals scored as well as some awesome saves from goal keepers and skills from the attackers to the defence. It was wonderful to witness the stamina and determination of the players as the day progressed and the finals arose.

The Under 9 Girls final was played between Wentworth Falls and Steiner. The youngest players of the tournament were a delight to watch and many were tenacious in their games. With the side line packed with enthusiastic family and students Steiner took the lead 1-0 and held on till the final whistle.

The Under 9 Boys final played between Mountains Christian and Blackheath was a wonderful display of skill, determination and sound competitiveness. Blackheath lead early and sustained the lead to the end with a 2-0 win over Mountains Christian School.

The Under 10 Girls games were very close throughout the day with Wentworth Falls winning their pool very convincingly and Blackheath winning the other pool by a clear 3 points. But Blackheath shone in the finals with a dynamic 6-0 win over Wentworth Falls

Under 10 Boys saw Steiner take on Blackheath in the finals after both teams had convincing wins during the day in their selective pools. With both schools trying different tactics and exercising talented decisions the crowd were extremely entertained. Blackheath held on to the lead and held out Steiner to a 2-1 win.

The Under 11 Girls final was played between Leura and St Canice’s. This game was a nail biter with both teams playing a very skilful futsal game. The young girls played with determination and talent.  Leura held out St Canice’s winning the final 2-1.

The Under 11 Boys final was played between Leura and St Canice’s. Leura came out fired up and they didn’t waste any time putting a goal in the back of the net. Persistence paid off and Leura were gallant at the final whistle winning 3-0 to St Canice’s.

Senior Girls final was played between Korowal and Mts Christian School. Korowal had to have a penalty shootout against Blackheath to secure a place in the finals. However Mountains Christian girls were determined to continue in their winning way securing the finals against Korowal with a 3-0 win.

Senior Boys final was played between Leura and Blackheath. This was a very tight game that saw the play bouncing from one end of the court to the other. Some talented players who continued to show their style so late in the day entertained the crowd as the both teams vied for the elusive goal with Blackheath winning 1-0.

Two wonderful days that showcased the exciting and dynamic talent that is present within the mountains. Congratulations to all students who participated and thank you to all schools involved in supporting a local inter-school tournament.
