Mount Wilson community celebrates hall upgrades and launch of Library 2U

The event was attended by Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman MP, Mayor Mark Greenhill, Council staff, and members of the Mount Wilson Village Hall Committee.
The upgrades, funded through the Federal Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants and delivered by Council, significantly improve the Hall’s functionality for both general community use and the hall’s use as an emergency gathering location.
Upgrades include a new kitchen, upgraded outdoor lighting, landscaping, a new emergency generator, and high-speed satellite WiFi connected to the Starlink network.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill highlighted the significance of the project for the region.
“The Mount Wilson Village Hall is a central hub for this community, not only as a gathering place but also as a critical part of our emergency response network,” Cr Greenhill said.
“With the new Library 2U locker and satellite WiFi, we're delivering improved access to library services and vital communications capabilities. These additions enhance community connectedness and emergency preparedness, especially in isolated locations like Mt Wilson.
“We are especially grateful to the Mount Wilson Village Hall Committee, who were absolutely vital to the delivery of this project.”
Federal Member for Macquarie and Special Envoy for the Arts, Susan Templeman congratulated Blue Mountains City Council.
“Library2U is great opportunity to re-engage with the range of services offered by the Blue Mountains Library.
“The provision of public Wi-Fi and the borrowing app will revolutionise what can be accessed and delivered to the residents of Mount Wilson.”
Library 2U enables residents to reserve books and other library items online or via phone, with deliveries made every four weeks to the locker installed at the Hall. The system supports the growing demand for flexible, accessible library services across the Blue Mountains.
High-speed community satellite WiFi, also installed as part of the project, provides reliable day-to-day internet access and acts as a communications safety net during emergencies. This enhancement will significantly support the Hall’s role as a designated Neighbourhood Safer Place.
This project forms part of Council’s broader strategy to support bushfire-affected communities with targeted infrastructure and digital service upgrades.
