Nina’s Bees will have handmade gifts available at the virtual Wollemi Artisan Markets.
The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre is moving its popular Wollemi Artisan Markets online this Mother’s Day.

This new virtual marketplace will showcase the talented stallholders that visitors would usually see at the markets on the Viewing Platform, at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.

Launching Saturday 9 May, we are encouraging shoppers to call or Zoom with your Mum for a scroll through the market stalls to select the perfect gift for her, together.

Products will include bath and body, stationery, handmade homewares and apparel, as well as heaps of great products for kids.

Blue Mountains City Council Cultural Services Manager, Paul Brinkman, is encouraging locals to support local makers this Mother’s Day weekend.

“Many local makers rely on events such as the Wollemi Artisan Markets and Winter Magic Festival for the survival of their businesses, with current restrictions in place it is important we continue to support them in an online capacity. This virtual marketplace is our opportunity to highlight just some of our talented local makers who are still busy producing and creating products,” he said.

Throughout Mother’s Day weekend the Cultural Centre will be sharing interviews, studio tours and sneak peaks at how products are made with the stallholders.

The Virtual Marketplace is a part of the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre’s VIRTUAL INSIGHT program that has seen a collection of workshops and tutorials, artist talks and studio tours created for online audiences.

“The online Wollemi Market is a great opportunity to support our local makers,” Mayor Mark Greenhill said. “We’ve been talking about how we can ‘Love Local’ to keep our businesses on their feet – this is one of the unique ways that businesses can respond to this difficult period, so I encourage you to head online and support them.”
