Mental Health Expo at Lithgow Library
The expo will take place on Monday, 9 October 2017 at Lithgow Library from 10am – 2pm. There will be a variety of stallholders present, including mental health professionals, alternative therapies, physical health practitioners and information on the spiritual dimensions of mental health. In addition, there will be speakers, entertainment, a community conversation on suicide prevention, and light refreshments will also be provided.
“Mental health problems are incredibly complex and varied and affect people from all walks of life. By hosting an expo we hope to provide information and support for a wide range of mental health issues, and connect people to services that are available locally,” said Mayor of Lithgow City Council, Clr Stephen Lesslie.
The inspiration behind this initiative was brought about by the fact that Lithgow has one of the highest rates of people with mental health illness in regional NSW. By celebrating Mental Health Month, Council and LINC hope to promote the importance of early intervention practices for positive mental health and wellbeing and reduce the stigma associated with mental health.
