Marrangaroo Masterplan – “blueprint for the future”

Source: Lithgow City Council
Archived 29 Mar 2018 - Posted: 1 Feb 2018
After months of planning and consultation, the Marrangaroo Masterplan and Draft Development Control Plan (DCP) are now on public exhibition.

The Marrangaroo Masterplan and Draft DCP have been prepared by Lithgow City Council in order to provide a “blueprint” for the future development of a new urban village.

The Plan provides for the potential development of just under 1600 residential allotments along with approximately 17ha of land for future “business” development along the Great Western Highway.  The area is also to be supported by a central village hub to provide for the day to day convenience retail needs of the community. This area, coupled with new industrial zoned land north of Reserve Road, will provide opportunity for investment in Lithgow’s future growth.

Mayor Stephen Lesslie said today, “The development of Marrangaroo will be a long term process over many years and separate stages. Ultimately the pace and scope of development will be dependent on individual landowners and will be largely market-driven.”

“It’s important to remember that the new plan is about planning and providing guidelines to assist people who want to develop their land.  If landowners don’t want to develop their properties they don’t have to,” added the Mayor.

The Masterplan and Draft Development Control Plan and supporting documents are available for viewing on Council’s website, at Council’s Administration Centre and at each of the town libraries.  A visual display is also available for viewing at the Lithgow Valley Shopping Plaza opposite the food court.

“Council is interested in the comments of the community and stakeholders on these important plans for the future and I strongly encourage residents to view the plans and tell us what they think,” added Mayor Lesslie.

Comments on the Masterplan and Draft DCP will be accepted up until 7 February 2018.

Further information is available on Council’s website or you can contact Council’s Strategic Land Use Planner, Mrs Sherilyn Hanrahan on 02 63549999.
