Mandatory Electronic Check-Ins Offer Additional Protection Against COVID-19

By Blue Mountains City Council
Posted: 6 Dec 2020
Contact tracing is an important part of stopping community transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

Digital check in tools (such as a QR code or web form) offer the quickest, safest option for contact tracing for venues and will assist Council facilities to remain COVID safe.

QR codes have been installed at a number of Council facilities throughout the Blue Mountains. These include the:

  • Visitor Information Centres at Katoomba and Springwood
  • Aquatic and Leisure Centres at Blackheath, Katoomba, Springwood, Lawson and Glenbrook
  • Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba
  • Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub in Springwood, and the
  • Customer Service Centre at Katoomba.

For members of the community who do not have access to a smartphone, facilities can record their details upon entry using a digital device (such as an iPad).

After check-in, customer contact details are stored securely by the NSW Government and are destroyed after 28 days.

Due to COVID-19, face-to-face customer service hours at Council’s two Customer Contact Centres remain restricted.

The current face-to-face opening hours are:

Katoomba Customer Contact Centre: Open Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm

Springwood Customer Contact Centre: Closed

A Council spokesperson said: “Although COVID-19 restrictions are easing around the state, we remain vigilant in our COVID-safe procedures to ensure the continued wellbeing of our community and Council staff.”
