Local Business Woman named as a Finalist for National Awards
The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The Women’s Business School celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
Kylie is a mum of 2 girls with a third baby on the way and resides in Faulconbridge. She is a coach, mentor, hypnotherapist, and founder of her business, The Phoenix Within with a special focus on overcoming Imposter Syndrome, perfectionism and burnout. An MBA graduate who is also a Practitioner of NLP, Timeline Therapy ® and Hypnotherapy. Kylie’s mission is to work with women who are ready to reclaim their power, find their passion and forge their own path. She shares her own experiences through childhood trauma, domestic violence and business successes and failures to show her clients they aren’t alone, we all have our good, bad and ugly experiences but it’s important to realise that we don’t have to let our past define us.
Kylie was inspired to start her business as she was previously a senior retail manager and was required to work up to 80 hours a week. When her first daughter came along – work would not support her with lesser hours and was regularly gaslighted by her boss. During this time - mum guilt consumed her. Due to the stress, she resigned from her position. She spent the next couple of years floating between different jobs, looking for the “Kylie-sized” hole she fit into. Once she set out on a journey of personal development and realised that she was not here to squeeze into any hole but to go out into the world and forge her own path and share her message. Her mission is to let women know that we have everything inside us to reclaim out power and forge our own paths – it’s just being show how to tap into it and that’s why The Phoenix Within was created.
Kylie is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements, particularly when she went to the UK at the beginning of March this year to attend the international Mums in Business Association (MIBA) Awards. She was a finalist in 4 categories bringing home a trophy and speaking on stage to share her tips.
In the last 12 months she has also published two books. A 90-day gratitude journal titled, “Today, I am Grateful” which has sold copies in Australia, Spain, Romania, Canada and the UK. She was also a co-author for Mumpreneur on Fire: Australian edition where along with 11 other authors we shared each of our journeys of becoming a Mumpreneur. It became an #1 international best seller on Amazon 3 hours after being released.
There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Kylie explains, “I love the flexibility being a mumpreneur has so I can work at home around my girls. I have 2 girls aged 4 and 2 and another baby on the way. I can work with my clients in times that suit me and my family better instead of the traditional 9-5 or in my previous job.
My bosses (kids) are also great to work with and motivate, inspire and empower me to and are the perfect cheer squad.
It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family and Kylie gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise.” Jump in and do it. Don’t hesitate. If you are passionate about it and you think about it all the time. It consumes your thoughts while you’re awake, before you go to sleep and in your dreams - then you need to get started. It’s okay if you don’t know everything right now. There are amazing people out there who are happy to help you and give you advice on how to get things done.”
Voting is still open for the People’s Choice Leadership category until the 30th August so show your support by voting for Kylie.
The winners of the 2020 AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at an online event in September.
