Lithgow History Week Book Launch
The book will be launched at Lithgow Library on Friday 2 September at 11.30am.
After the catastrophic bushfire of 2019, a brilliant revelation was made in the ghost town of Newnes. Many startling archaeological sites and a multitude of items that had not been seen for many years due to being hidden by dense vegetation, were revealed. Brian, Yuri, Michael, and friends took this opportunity to document this treasure trove of relics. Over 350 archaeological features and sites were identified, recorded, and photographed for the book.
These discoveries are supported with hundreds of historical photographs, as well as maps and personal accounts, to present a unique and stunning visual record of life in Newnes over a century ago and in the present day.
This is sure to be a remarkable book and if you have an interest in bushwalking and a fascination with history then this is a must for you.
Bookings are not required, and light refreshments will be available. For more information contact Lithgow Library on 6352 9100 or visit the library webpage at here
