The popular smart phone film competition returns in 2022 with creativity and prizes galore.

The Seven Valleys Tourism and Events team is partnering with SF3 for the fourth year to hold the Smartphone film competition at this year’s Lithgow Halloween. SF3 are the organisers of the SmartFone Flick Fest, Australia’s international smartphone film festival.

Mayor Maree Statham said “The Lithgow Halloween Smartphone Film Competition has become a highlight of the event. Our events team is so lucky to be partnering with SF3 Smarfone Flickfest. The talent of the budding film makers coupled with the Halloween theme never fails to surprise me”.

The competition requires a short film in the suspense horror genre, up to a maximum of 10 minutes duration with a G-rating, to be shot on a mobile phone or tablet.

Films will be judged in 4 category areas; ‘Most Creative’, ‘Best Performance’ and ‘Best Youth Film’ There will also be a ‘People’s Choice’ award and great prizes will be on offer.

A Smartphone Filmmaking Workshop will be held on 27th September. This is a great opportunity for all filmmakers to hone their skills or take the first step toward stardom. The workshop is being delivered in partnership with SF3, Western Sydney University's Maldhan Ngurr Ngurra Lithgow Transformation Hub and Lithgow City Council. Prizes will be $500.00 Australian Dollars for the winner of each of the four categories
