The program has been made possible by funding from the Federal Government’s National Bushfire Recovery Agency and the NSW State Government’s Resilience NSW as part of the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund.

Under the Bushfire Recovery Community Grants Program, the Council has $62,500 available for community groups, joint organisations and not-for-profit groups to undertake projects that enhance social recovery and preparedness activities.

“The damage, impact and response lasted for weeks and months and it is perfectly normal for many in the community to find themselves having to again deal with the memories and complex emotions” Council’s Coordinator Recovery, Rachel Nicoll, said

“It is important to mark this significant chapter, but also to recognise the amazing courage and efforts from people and local communities. This program will strengthen the hard work being done to come out the other side with even greater resilience”

Amounts of up to $10,000 will be awarded to successful projects that contribute to bushfire recovery on a whole of community perspective. Amounts over $10,000 will also be considered on application and dependent on available funding.

Groups already assisting in recovery efforts are encouraged to check whether they are eligible to apply for these funds.
