Lithgow Australia Day 2025 Celebrations
“Australia Day is a day to reflect on, and pay respect to, the cultures, stories, histories and people from all walks of life, from First Nations People to those whose families travelled here centuries ago, and those more recently arrived.” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Cassandra Coleman.
In Lithgow, the official ceremony will be held at Queen Elizabeth Park between 9:00am and 10:30am with Mayor Cassandra Coleman presiding over the Citizenship Ceremony and presenting the NSW Local Citizen Awards. The Official Australia Day Address will be presented by the Australia Day Ambassador
Mayor Coleman spoke about the importance of the NSW Local Citizen Awards saying, “The Local Citizen Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate members of our community who have given their all and made the Lithgow LGA a better place to live.”
The 2025 Australia Day Celebrations in Queen Elizabeth Park will also include a community fair from 10:30am until 1:00pm featuring performances, collaborative art activities, live music, food stalls and more.
Cool off with free entry to the J.M Robson Aquatic Centre between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm.
A flag raising ceremony will be held at 10:00am at the Wallerawang Community and Sports Club followed by family entertainment. , The Mayor will be in attendance from 11:00am along with the Australia Day Ambassador who will address attendees.
The Portland official ceremony will commence on Wolgan Street at 12:00 noon, Mayor Cassandra Coleman will oversee the ceremony and welcome the Australia Day Ambassador to speak. At the conclusion of the ceremony residents in Portland can enjoy entertainment including displays, market stalls, children’s entertainment, BBQ and the CWA refreshment room.
Wolgan Street, Portland will be closed to traffic between Williwa Street and Vale Street, also Scheidel Lane will be closed between Lett and Cullen Street, from 9.00am – 4.00pm.
