The Leader of the NSW Opposition Luke Foley will be attending Lithgow on Monday 9 October at 10.00am to address the Lithgow community and mining employees in a show of support for a resolution to the crisis facing Centennial Coal at its Spring Vale Mine.

"The Leader of the Opposition responded to an invitation from Lithgow Mayor Stephen Lesslie to meet with Lithgow Council and its residents who are concerned at the continued uncertainty plaguing the operations at Springvale and the impact it is having on mining employees and their families." said Mayor Stephen Lesslie.

"Council's Mayor Stephen Lesslie, Deputy Mayor Wayne McAndrew and General Manager Graeme Faulkner completed discussions with Mr Foley and his staff, and representatives of the Miners Union at Parliament House on Friday morning and welcomed the unequivocal support provided in support of Centennial Coal, Springvale mines employees and their families and the larger Lithgow community" said Councillor Lesslie.

"Lithgow Council is extremely grateful to Luke Foley for agreeing to come to Lithgow and advocate for certainty for jobs and power supply to the benefit of both Lithgow and NSW generally" said the Mayor.
