Last Call for Kids to Have Their Say on New Street Libraries

By Blue Mountains City Council
Posted: 29 Aug 2020
Central Blue Mountains Mens Shed put together the Street Libraries to help support kids across our communities.
Blue Mountains’ kids have until 31 August 2020 to have their say on the location of 10 street libraries.

Each child who finds a location suitable for one of the libraries will receive a $40 voucher!

Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill said: “Word is getting out about our Street Libraries Project and we are looking forward to hearing suggestions for the best locations for these 10 street libraries.

“It could be a grandparents’ house, a neighbours’ house or your own family home.”

Kids can have their say on Council’s new platform Kids Say.

Kids Say is a dedicated space on Council’s existing Have Your Say website, where kids (5-12 years) can take part in surveys and give feedback on matters that concern them. Council will use this input to inform decision-making.

Grandparents, parents and carers are encouraged to support kids to have their say.

Volunteers at the Central Blue Mountain Mens Shed and the Blue Mountains Womens Sheds are already putting hammer to nail to construct the libraries for the community.

Go to Kids Say to find out more. Submission will be taken until Monday, 31 August 2020.

COVID-19 pandemic restrictions may affect when these Street Libraries will be installed, or how they will be managed.
