Knapsack Park Upgrade Underway

BMCC Manager of Special Projects Russell Brecknell with Mayor Mark Greenhill.
A major upgrade of Knapsack Park is underway to improve safety and facilities at the popular precinct.

The upgrade is taking place in two stages – the demolition of the existing clubhouse and construction of a new carpark, to be completed by October.

This will be followed by construction of a new fit-for-purpose amenities building.

Council is upgrading this popular sporting and recreational hub, thanks to assistance from State and Federal government grants.

Mayor Mark Greenhill said the upgrade would be welcomed by the large numbers who attend sporting fixtures and events at the facility.

“This upgrade is exciting. A sealed car park and improved traffic flow, in and out of the park, will improve safety at the precinct,” Mayor Greenhill said.

“The new purpose-built amenities building will include change rooms, a meeting space, canteen and much-needed storage for the local sporting clubs.”

A $1.3million Federal Community Development Grant and a $750,000 NSW Office of Sport Grant is helping Council fund the project.

New cricket nets will also be installed at the site, as part of the upgrade.

A detailed design phase for the upgrade of the new amenities building is underway. An information session will be held at Knapsack Park on Saturday 4 July, 9am-10.30am, for those who are interested in this project.
