Kim Churchill + Special Guest Tom Myers Live at the Baroque Room, Katoomba
Churchill tours extensively and has become a venue and music festival favourite.
“Opening on this night was the young, barefooted Aussie, Kim Churchill. Churchill made the most of an acoustic guitar, kick drum, pedals and a harmonica. Creating a sound I can only describe as psychedelic whale music, ocean-side blues or countrified Nick Drake. Kim Churchill. Remember that name. He’s going to impress a whole mess of people on this tour” – Vancouver Weekly
The Bright Night Sessions are all about reconnecting with all of the phenomenal, regional music communities that Kim has had the pleasure of joining over the years in Australia.
Kim has partnered with Yamaha Australia and Undercover Creative to build a solar powered touring stage and production that can go into regional towns and communities that don’t have live music venues.
Kim says of the concept: “I think I’ve really come to a realisation about the way the Australian music scene lives and breathes through these communities and whilst playing larger headline shows in cities is still amazing and exciting, I really feel at home and deeply happy hitting small towns”.
“I want these shows to bring people together over the joy of some gentle music and connection with like-minded people. I’m envisioning loads of silly stories and long conversations about life and where we all are within it!”
+ Special Guest TOM MYERS
Founding member of “Papa Vs Pretty” drummer Tom Myers has toured extensively performing with many including Kim Churchill, Jack River, Thelma Plum and most recently Dean Lewis.
Tom has step down from the dais, emerged from behind the drum kit and retracted the digit to shortly deliver his debut EP. Written and recorded over eighteen months, Tom may have played everything including the kitchen sink, collaborating with Gus Gardiner brought more than cello, the result is achingly beautiful. Profound in it’s exploration of the human condition, catharsis may have been the catalyst however ultimately it honours the transcendence of love.
Join us for an intimate Blue Mountains live performance from this wonderful down-to-earth artist as part of his ‘Bright Night Sessions’ tour.
