Alan Davies, a current cadet in the Healthy Waterways Environment team, spoke highly of the three ways the cadetship has been invaluable to him.
“Number one, the field experience and report writing has been second-to-none. Two, working with a fully-fledged environmental team with very specific environmental skills has given me real industry experience. And three, there’s been such a great balance of working with the support of this team while being given the opportunity to work independently and to have my name on projects from start to finish!
“I would highly recommend doing a cadetship to anyone studying.”
Gabrielle Amer joined Council early this year as a Sign Writing Apprentice, while she completes her studies in Sign Writing and Graphics at TAFE.
She said she was excited to have the opportunity to apply her visual arts knowledge and creativity to a new skill in a trades role.
To anyone considering applying for a role in the CATs program, Gabby said: "Do it! It’s a great opportunity and very supportive team at the BMCC."
Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill said: “Our past and current cadets, apprentices and trainees speak highly of their training while being supported and mentored by highly experienced Council staff.
“I encourage people to apply for some of the fantastic positions we have currently available across a range of Council areas.”
