Jenolan Caves. Great Wildlife Moments for Day Breakers
For generations, Jenolan Caves has been famous for Australia’s most spectacular caves, delicious food, wine and overnight stays in charming surroundings. But it is not so well known that Jenolan has also been a wildlife sanctuary for over a century. Our reserve is teeming with wildlife, mostly active in the early mornings, before day visitors arrive for cave tours.
So now, for an extra fee, during February and March only, you can book our NEW guided bushwalk -‘Day-Breakers’ Wildlife Walk, exclusive for overnight guests.
Book and pay on check in. Then, the next morning, at 7:15am, before breakfast, meet your guide and other participants, in Caves House foyer. Our resident wildlife expert, Dr Anne Musser, will take you on an eye-opening journey above ground, in the cool of a Blue Mountains morning. You never know what you might spot. You might see rare (and adorable) brush-tailed rock wallabies in the wild. You might hear a lyrebird showing off it's eclectic repertoire!
Bring your camera. Wear non-slip shoes, hat and sun-glasses, but come prepared for possible light rain.
Your 1-hour walk will finish at Caves House, where you can chat with Anne and other participants, over a hearty breakfast. What a fun and fascinating activity - available only in February and March!
This is exciting news, because Day-Breakers Wildlife Walk is our first guided bushwalking experience, and we are keen to see if guests love our wildlife as much as we do. Yes, if you book this activity, you will have to get up early, but we are sure you will find it worthwhile!
