Immerse Yourself in a Night of Tango at Wentworth Falls
On Saturday 9th November at Wentworth Falls School of Arts, there will be will be a music and dance experience like no other featuring Canto Latino Quartet with event styling transforming the venue into a Tango Club, and professional dance performances by Federico Mattiuzzi and his dance partner Zara from Sydney's "Dance tango". There are enough seats in the venue for everyone to have a seat with a great view of the stage plus plenty of space on the dance floor for spontaneous social dancing except for during professional dance performances.
Experience the emotional depths and drama of Argentinean Tango and the lively spices of music from Latin America. Canto Latino brings the expertise of Amanda Handel in tango, flamenco & Art music, Jane Andino in Latin & South American music, Gary Daley in jazz & contemporary and Matt Handel in jazz, funk & soul. Canto Latino shows have attracted a following of tango dancers and the band very much enjoy interacting musically with the spontaneity and creativity in the dancers movements.
The band will play a selection of tangos, milongas and waltzes, interspersed with slow tangos or other contrasting Latin rhythms. Most of the repertoire will be from the “Golden Age” (around 1930’s and 40’s). Canto Latino band draw from a wealth of artistic experience and are a unique combination of renowned performers from the Blue Mountains. Most of their repertoire is Argentinean tango and they really love to play for dancers.
In the two intermissions and after the band there will be playful tango infused dance music, and dance floor lighting effects (No strobe lights) including some "Gotan" mixes, for both social tango dancers and freestyle movers and shakers alike.
