Blue Mountains Library is celebrating the Home Library Service’s third anniversary and reaching a milestone 60 clients.

The Home Library Service delivers library items to residents who are unable to visit library branches due to frailty, illness, living with a disability, or carer responsibilities.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill applauded the service and the crucial role it plays in connecting and informing residents.

“The Home Library Service is the epitome of what public libraries mean to our community. They’re equalisers that bring knowledge, entertainment and connection to everyone.

“And for those who can’t physically attend the library, the Home Library Service brings all of that to them, and we know that it has been life changing for many of the clients.”

In October the Home Library Service will mark its third anniversary having reached its largest number of clients and delivered nearly 11,000 items in over 1,300 deliveries since it commenced in October 2022.

The library offers an extensive range of resources including large and regular print books, talking books, magazines, music CDs and DVDs as well as talking book devices for customers with print disability or vision impairment. Members can either choose their own items or let the Home Library Services team choose for them.

Residents who are unable to visit library branches can sign up to be a Home Library Service member for free. The Home Library Service delivers to private homes, retirement villages and aged care facilities throughout the Blue Mountains Local Government Area.

If you are interested in the Home Library Service or know someone who might be, you can contact your nearest Library branch via email or on 0414 195 045, or visit the website: here
