Blue Mountains City Council is creating a precinct plan for Katoomba Falls Reserve to help guide how we enhance, protect and support nature and culture-based recreation at this popular location.

We invite the community to join us in this important process by attending a community information session at the Katoomba Falls Ovals (next to the play area and Cliff Drive carpark) onSaturday, 4 November 2023, 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The information event about the preparation of this precinct plan will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions, engage in discussion and provide feedback to Council staff engaged with this important project.

“Council has already been engaged with the community on the overarching Masterplan for the Blue Mountains Southern Escarpment,” Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill said. “As part of that project, Katoomba Falls Reserve was identified as a priority area for the preparation of its own precinct plan.

“Katoomba Falls Reserve is a significant local space with a great deal of historical, natural and social interest. We are so very fortunate to have spaces like this in our own backyard and it’s vital we work together to ensure they are well managed and maintained.

“We acknowledge that part of this area of land is located on The Gully Aboriginal Place and Council is engaging in consultation with Traditional Owners.

“Council is exploring through the precinct planning process what upgrades could look like for the Katoomba Falls Reserve area in the future.

“We’re now at the start of this precinct planning process and I encourage everyone with an interest in this special site to attend the information session, learn more about the precinct plan and contribute their feedback.”

All material shared at the information event will be made available on Council’s Have Your Say website from Tuesday, 7 November 2023.
