Help shape a new Destination Management Plan

With the tourism industry and community we are co-designing a new Destination Management Plan for the Blue Mountains.

As an ECO certified destination recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), Blue Mountains City Council has committed to meeting internationally recognised best practice standards across the four sustainability pillars: economic, social, cultural and environmental.

Given the Blue Mountains geographic and landscape setting, where towns and villages are intertwined with magnificent natural areas that are part of a World Heritage Area, ensuring the Destination Management Plan capitalises on these assets whilst protecting them, is critical.

The plan will:

  • Provide a Vision for the future development of the Blue Mountains as a destination.
  • EstablishPrinciples of Destination Management to deliver cultural, social, environmental and economic outcomes for the City.
  • Recommend a Stewardship Governance Structure that enables ongoing identification and prioritisation of actions.
  • Recommend aMeasurement Framework that is aligned to the Principles of Destination Management to guide the ongoing identification of actions.
  • Identify initialPriority Projects including cultural tourism.

Join us to shape the new Destination Management Plan onThursday, 7 September at one of the following sessions:

  • 10am at Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Katoomba for a business and industry focused session.
  • 5pm at Blue Mountains Community Hub, Springwood for a community and resident focused session.
