After strong and persistent community advocacy the Katoomba region is closer than ever to having its very own headspace satellite centre.

Wentworth Healthcare, provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network and Parramatta Mission have undergone extensive consultation and are pleased to announce that a suitable site has been sourced for the new headspace Katoomba service.

headspace Katoomba will be based at 37 Waratah Street, Katoomba. The site is easily accessible for young people, close to public transport, local shops and cafes.

Keith Hamilton, Senior Minister and CEO of Parramatta Mission commented that the identification of an appropriate site was a significant step forward in our work to establish the centre and noted that Parramatta Mission intend to be up and running as soon as possible, and expect to be able to make progress despite the challenges currently encountered during the Covid 19 pandemic.

Over the next couple months, Parramatta Mission will liaise further with young people in the Blue Mountains community to ensure the refurbishment of the site is fit for purpose, youth friendly and creates a safe environment for young people.

Wentworth Healthcare CEO, Lizz Reay said, “We have taken the time to do extensive consultation in the area to ensure that in the development of this service local needs are being met and we are excited to be partnering with Parramatta Mission to deliver this vital service.”

headspace Katoomba Satellite service is due to open in mid-2020. It will deliver early and effective intervention through a range of youth friendly services that are already making a difference to the lives of thousands of young people across Australia.
