Hazelbrook Station Set to Benefit from $133 Million Transport Investment
“We are committed to making public transport accessible for customers with a disability, less mobile customers or customers using a pram and that is why this Budget includes funding to upgrade accessibility to at least 11 more stations across the State,” Ms Berejiklian said.
Member of the Legislative Council and Blue Mountains resident Shayne Mallard MP said Hazelbrook station is one of at least 11 stations expected to benefit from the investment.
“This announcement means planning for accessibility upgrades at Hazelbrook station is set to commence with a new lift and improved lighting to be installed to improve access,” Mr Mallard said.
“The planned upgrades we are announcing today are about getting as many stations accessible, as soon as possible, to improve the customer experience and comfort for those using the network.” “This follows the station and accessibility upgrades completed for Wentworth Falls and Leura stations. And comes on top of the new $2.5 billion interurban train fleet and related track work upgrades.”
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said: “We have invested more than $1.3 billion in the Transport Access Program since 2011. Since then more than 450 projects have been delivered or are underway across the state, including accessibility upgrades at stations, better transport interchanges and upgrades to ferry wharves.”
“We now have 173 of the 307 stations on the suburban and intercity networks accessible.
“This means that approximately 90 per cent of customer trips across the network are now accessible."
The Transport Access Program is a NSW Government initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state.
