Have your say on upgrades to the Corridor of Oaks, Faulconbridge
The first stage of the upgrade, funded by the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program, enacts recommendations from a previous Council Conservation Management Plan.
Improvements will enhance connections and accessibility throughout the area and include:
- An accessible boardwalk between the Corridor of Oaks ‘Prime Minister Trees’
- Accessible picnic facilities
- Formalised accessible car parking
- An accessible toilet at Jackson Park
- Accessible paths linking the oaks, picnic facilities and the accessible toilet
- Interpretive signage
Blue Mountains City Council Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “The Corridor of Oaks is a popular destination for heritage enthusiasts and locals alike.
“Preserving the heritage values of the park, improving accessibility and enhancing the recreational facilities means that more people can enjoy this significant landmark for years to come
“I encourage the community to have a say on this project, and to help shape future plans for the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park.”
Community input will be sought throughout the project for both the long-term vision (via a Plan of Management process) and for the design of the stage one upgrade.
The local heritage-listed Corridor of Oaks is significant as a commemoration of the successive Prime Ministers of Australia since Federation.
The NSW Government is investing up to $250 million through the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program to support councils to deliver more and better public spaces across the state.
Blue Mountains City Council received funding for two legacy projects: Blackheath Soldiers Memorial Park, and the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park, Faulconbridge.
