Have your say on the Draft Destination Management Plan
Members of the community, local businesses and industry representatives are invited to provide feedback on the draft plan by Wednesday 19 June.
Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill urged people to have a good read of the plan and share their thoughts with Council.
“The Blue Mountains is a unique and special place for those of us lucky enough to live here, and our visitors. We’re one of only two cities in the world surrounded by a World Heritage Area and we are stewards of this unique and ancient landscape,” Cr Greenhill said.
“A vibrant and resilient visitor economy offers significant benefits for our region and our community and it’s absolutely essential that we plan for and manage growth in a holistic way that minimises negative impacts of visitation and ensures that the Blue Mountains continues to be a great place to live, work and visit long into the future.
“That is what this Destination Management Plan is, and it’s why we need the community, business, industry and Council to work together to establish the right framework.”
The Draft Destination Management Plan is a plan for pro-active management of the Blue Mountains as a destination. It supports collaboration between government, industry and community to articulate a shared vision for a destination to drive action to protect its environment, community and cultural values.
The Draft Destination Management has been developed in partnership with key stakeholders following extensive consultation with stakeholders, the broader community and industry, which identified a wide range of opportunities and threats, and highlighted nine key projects that will support the achievement of the plan’s objectives.
Now is your chance to review the draft and provide your feedback so we can improve and fine tune the plan before it’s adopted and implemented.
