Have Your Say about community and cultural facilities in the Blue Mountains

Various community buildings managed by Blue Mountains City Council.
Council is currently calling for feedback about community and cultural facilities in the Blue Mountains as an important part in preparing a new Community Facility Strategic Plan.

Council-owned community and cultural facilities include spaces such as community halls, neighbourhood centres and community centres that are available for licence, hire or use by individuals or community groups.

We are running two online surveys:

  • one for people or groups who use council facilities for their activities; and
  • one for people or groups who aren’t currently using council facilities but would potentially be interested in doing so in the future.

Both surveys are available at: here and are open until Friday, 2 June 2023.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “Hearing directly from those who use, or would like to use, our facilities provides us with valuable information and insights - helping us to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our community.

“This feedback is a vital part in how we’re approaching the development of our new Community Facility Strategic Plan, which will guide how we improve and manage our network of community buildings and facilities.

“We’re inviting feedback on what’s currently available - what works and what can be improved - and what additional facilities may be needed now and in the future.

“That includes hearing from people who don’t currently use our facilities and finding out from them why that is. We want to pinpoint the barriers that make it difficult for people to use our facilities and buildings and identify gaps in what’s currently available.

“We want to hear from you about your experiences, whether you’re a regular user of a Council-owned building or facility; you’ve only hired a hall for a one-off party or celebration; or if you’ve never set foot inside one because there’s not something that meets your needs. All viewpoints help us to construct a detailed picture of how these facilities are used and can be improved.”
