The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah is inviting families to take a trip back in time with a fantastic FREE family day of hands-on science. Gondwana Garden returns to the Mountains on 17 August as part of National Science Week.

From the world famous "dinosaur tree" Wollemi Pine, to virtual reality Australian dinosaurs and megafauna, to getting up close to (almost) real wild-roaming Erth's dinosaurs, the Gondwana supercontinent is coming to life at the Garden.

At stalls and presentations throughout the Garden kids and adults alike can meet real life scientists and horticulturalists, as well as some Australian animals and creepy crawlies, and learn about the science of the prehistoric world and today.

"As the home of the Wollemi Pine, the Blue Mountains is the perfect location to bring the prehistoric world of Gondwana to life" said Michelle Grima, Visitor Experience Manager at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah.

For the third year running we are excited to invite families to the Garden for a day of science exploration and adventure at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah."

Highlights of the day include:

  • Free, hands-on activities including DIY dinosaur fossils and nature detective
  • Australian Wildlife Displays
  • Erth's roaming puppet dinosaur
  • Frog & Tadpole Society
  • Live snake show

Gondwana Garden is a free event with some optional paid activities available on the day.

This event is supported by Inspiring Australia as part of Sydney Science Festival in National Science Week.
