Council’s Future Finders career pathway program recently supported local young musician Isabelle Cobcroft to build her portfolio through the Future Finders Career Helper.

Isabelle, known as Izzy, was awarded the Future Finders Career Helper after attending the Halloween Muso’s boot camp and performing at Lithgow Halloween 2018. Impressed by her participation and performance, the Future Finders crew awarded Izzy the opportunity to professionally record two of her own original tracks in the expectation that it would assist her to build her portfolio, online presence and apply for gigs.

“It was such a fantastic opportunity. It was hard to write the two songs I needed but I enjoyed the challenge. I learned a lot from experiencing the process of recording a song and also seeing how much work has to be put in by the studio to make it as good as it can be,” said Izzy.

“It made me see how much I want this to be my career. I felt privileged and thankful to be awarded this year’s Future Finders Career Helper”

The Future Finders career pathway program was made possible by the Youth Opportunities grant provided by the NSW State Government. To date the program has provided young people with business workshops, leadership activities; employment and education tasters.

“Council was fortunate to receive the Youth Opportunities grant. It has enabled a variety of careers to be presented and explored from traditional jobs to entrepreneurial ventures. We hope that the young people who have attended a Future Finders event found value in it and that it has assisted in them to think about their future careers and if they could be built in Lithgow. I’d like to congratulate Izzy on her efforts and wish her success in her future career,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Ray Thompson.

Future Finders has been operating since January 2018 with the funding from the NSW State Government to end in March. It is anticipated that Council will continue the program on a smaller scale; continuing to support youth career development and opportunities.
