Fun and inspiration on Planetary Health Day, March 1

Featuring live music, plant-based food, talks, tours, demonstrations, workshops, and stalls, the day includes:
- Upcycled fashion and repair workshops
- A mobile sawmill
- The latest research about preparing for bushfire
- Fresh local produce
- Native plants
- Boomerang Bags
Physicist Hans Coster will also present a talk on energy, the biosphere, and his property Middle Earth, which runs on Nickel Iron batteries.
A highlight of the day will be the Frogs of the Blue Mountains exhibition, featuring photos of frogs from across our region with links to their calls, as well as a talk by Brittany Mitchell from the Australian Museum about the FrogID project and her research: Australia’s frog species in the Anthropocene – habitat loss, climate change, behaviour, and disease.
Join in the ping pong tournament or giant chess game, get hands-on experience with Bushcare volunteers, or visit the Planetary Health Centre’s water demonstration site to find out how everyone can manage water to reduce the risk of future disasters.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said, “Council’s Planetary Health Initiative helps us work towards a sustainable and successful future for the Blue Mountains.
“It brings the community together and shares the most up-to-date information to help us be ready for current challenges, and prepare for the future.
“Planetary Health Day is a fun and informative event that helps people of all ages learn new skills that help protect their health, as well as the health of our region, and our planet.”
Planetary Health Day will take place from 9am to 3pm at Council’s Planetary Health Centre, 33-39 Acacia Street, Katoomba (the old golf course).
