Final designs for the Neighbourhood Park upgrades at Medlow Park, Medlow Bath, Thomas Park, Blaxland, and Golden Horizons, Hazelbrook are now available for public viewing.

Each of the final designs aim to offer inclusive and engaging spaces for children of all abilities, incorporating a variety of play equipment. They are also designed to cater for park users who simply want a space to enjoy the outdoors, exercise or gather with friends.

The Neighbourhood Parks Program will see upgrades delivered at 16 local parks, four in each ward, across the Blue Mountains. The program is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) program.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the final designs of these three parks are the result of extensive community engagement, and reflect the ideas and priorities shared by local residents.

“These designs have been shaped by the feedback we received from the community throughout our consultation process,” Cr Greenhill said.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has participated so far. Those who came to the pop-up events, those who completed the surveys, and those who shared their views via community groups. That input has been invaluable.”

Cr Greenhill says Council recognises that while the designs reflect strong community input, it’s not possible to meet every individual preference.

“Not every request or idea could be included into these final designs. Sometimes it’s a matter of budget, sometimes it falls outside the scope of the project, and sometimes it’s not appropriate for the size and function of a neighbourhood park. But every comment has been carefully considered.”

While the designs are almost final, there is still the potential for minor adjustments prior to construction commencing, if it is decided those adjustments could improve the recreation value or ease of use.
