In 1934, the Belgravia Guesthouse found its origins when it was acquired by Frank and Bertha Maudson.

The Guesthouse, now known as the Belgravia Mountain Guesthouse today, located on 179 Lurline Street, Katoomba (on the doorstep of Echo Point) holds a poignant history tied to Frank's parents' migration journey aboard the "Belgravia" from the United Kingdom to Australia in 1889.

This Australia Day weekend held a special significance for the Belgravia Mountain Guesthouse team as they were unexpectedly connected to the house's roots. The Owers family are direct descendants of the Maudson family through the late Norma Owers. The Owers visited the Blue Mountains to pay homage to the "Maudson" manor and commemorate Norma's memory. Norma, was the eldest daughter of Ethel McMonigal, who was the youngest daughter of Frank and Bertha Maudson.

Robert Owers, Norma's husband of 63 years, gathered his children and grandchildren for a weekend at the Belgravia Mountain Guesthouse, sharing the rich history of their late mother and grandmother. The Owers family travelled from Sydney, Canberra, and Perth, to explore the heritage of the Maudson family and revisit beloved hiking spots and other attractions that Robert and Norma cherished whilst staying in the Blue Mountains.

Despite the geographical distances, Robert, at the age of 88, successfully orchestrated this meaningful family reunion. The weekend served as a poignant commemoration of Norma's life, who called the Belgravia Guesthouse home over 85 years ago. Eric Lewanavanua, Sales and Marketing Manager at RYJ Group Pty Ltd, expressed enthusiasm about the Owers family's connection to the Belgravia Mountain Guesthouse. “The Belgravia Mountain Guesthouse, is a perfect hub for reconnection and retreats and we look forward to welcoming more members of the Maudson lineage, ensuring their family heritage and connection lives on for generations to come”
