Fairmont Resort and Spa Blue Mountains has been recognised as the country’s best deluxe accommodation at the Australian Tourism Awards on Friday 6th March.

Government Member of the Legislative Council and Blue Mountains resident Shayne Mallard MP congratulated Fairmont Resort and Spa on the outstanding achievement, and acknowledged their invaluable contribution to the Blue Mountains tourism economy.

“It’s fantastic to see Fairmont Resort and Spa Blue Mountains win an Australian Tourism Award in recognition of their hard work and commitment to visitors to the Blue Mountains”, Mr Mallard said.

“Congratulations to all NSW finalists on their contribution to the state’s tourism economy, and for shining a light on our state and region.”

“After the recent devastating bushfires in our region it is fitting that one of our iconic tourism destinations is being recognised and supported to assist in the industry recovery” Mr Mallard added.

The awards acknowledge tourism businesses that demonstrate outstanding achievement and drive visitation for their region, in turn generating visitor spend for the local economy.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said NSW’s tourism industry was the backbone of many regional communities.

“Tourism plays such an important social and economic role for the state thanks to the brilliant, innovative and dedicated industry champions,” Minister Ayres said.

“Now’s the time for us all to love NSW and show our support for these businesses and individuals who make our state a top holiday destination.
