To help raise awareness about waste management, Blue Mountains City Council has launched a new virtual tour along with a series of educational videos for its Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facilities (RRWMF).

The initiative is part of Council’s Towards Zero Waste Strategy, focusing on increasing transparency and promoting sustainable waste practices within our community.

The virtual tour allows the community to explore the facilities and gain insights into waste management practices from the comfort of their homes. In addition to the virtual tours, there is a series of videos addressing common waste and recycling themes.

Key topics include the impact of landfill on the environment, the crucial role of proper waste segregation, recycling options and how residents can contribute to reducing the volume of waste in their bins.

The videos are designed to answer frequently asked questions, provide clear guidance on proper waste disposal, and shed light on the operational aspects of our landfill facilities.

Blue Mountains City Council CEO, Dr Rosemary Dillon said: “The video series is a significant contribution to our commitment to environmental sustainability and community education.

“We hope these resources will help demystify waste management processes and encourage more responsible recycling habits among our residents.”

The virtual tour and videos are available to watch on Council’s website at here or via the links below:
