EOIs for mobile food vendors now open

Mobile food vendors with registered vehicles including trucks, caravans and trailers are being encouraged to apply for an approved location for their vehicle in the Blue Mountains Local Government Area (LGA).

Council recently adopted the Mobile Food Vending Policy and is asking for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the first round of vendor submissions.

By adopting this policy, Council hopes to encourage economic development, entrepreneurship and innovation in the Blue Mountains LGA.?

Blue Mountains Mayor, Mark Greenhill said, “We are fortunate to have a vibrant food culture in the Blue Mountains and this policy will add even more value for residents, visitors and local businesses by improving the diversity and availability of food offerings throughout the region.

“These approved locations and times will fill a gap by servicing busy times at tourist hotspots that are away from established food businesses. It will also mean that the approved vehicles will have more stability for their business, with dependable locations and opening hours.”

Mobile food vending must be regulated to ensure equity and fairness to existing business owners. This policy will complement local businesses and will operate during regulated hours at approved sites.

EOI applications for mobile food vending must be submitted to Council and will be assessed by Council’s Mobile Food Vending Assessment Team. Successful vendors will be issued a two-year operating licence for the approved location and times, and will contribute to activating key public spaces across the LGA.

Approved mobile food vending vehicle locations and times are:

  • Sutton Park, Blackheath: Mon – Sun, 7am – 7pm
  • Cathedral of Ferns Campground Crown Reserve, Mount Wilson: Mon – Sun, 7am – 7pm
  • Silva Plana Reserve, Mount Wilson: Mon – Sun, 9am – 5pm
