Emergency Food Boxes delivered throughout City
Seniors and people with disabilities in the Blue Mountains who are self-isolating due to COVID-19, and have no access to essential supplies, are receiving the supplies thanks to a partnership between Council and the Rapid Relief Team.
Mayor Mark Greenhill, who delivered an Emergency Food Box to a Blaxland couple on 5 May, said he had been overwhelmed by the response to the program.
“These supplies are helping to relieve pressure, during the COVID-19 pandemic, on those who are most vulnerable in our community,” Mayor Greenhill said.
“We have been humbled by the responses we are receiving from recipients.
“It’s a small way that Council – in partnership with the Rapid Relief Team – have been able to help those in our community who need it most.”
The Food Boxes that contain a variety of non-perishable, long-life food are being delivered to the doors of self-isolating households that meet the criteria of the program.
All requests are being assessed on a case-by-case basis and are being prioritised based on those in greatest need.
If you are a Blue Mountains resident over the age of 65, or are living with a disability, and are in urgent need please contact Council via email or call 4723 5000 (Lower Mountains) or 4780 5000 (Upper Mountains).
If you know someone who may be eligible for this program, please contact Council.
