The draft Masterplan for Blackheath Soldiers Memorial Park is now on public exhibition.

This is the final opportunity for the community to provide their feedback, and help shape future plans for the park.

Blackheath Soldiers Memorial Park is one of four district parks in the Blue Mountains, which means it’s designed for the whole Blue Mountains community to use. The draft Masterplan has been developed with extensive community input, and also takes previous Council resolutions and documents into consideration.

A range of future works are identified in the Masterplan, and implementation of those works will depend on funding.

The first stage of works will be funded through the Western Sydney City Deal. These works are valued at over $900 000 and will include a brand new toilet block and a fully accessible pathway, and will make it easier for everyone in the community to access and use the park.

This is one of 10 projects that will be completed across the Blue Mountains over the next three years, providing a welcome boost to community infrastructure and public spaces.

The community is invited to review the draft Masterplan, and stage one designs, and provide their feedback until Wednesday 10 June.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “The Masterplan focuses on how we can enhance the park and improve the experience for everyone who uses the space.

“Council staff have consulted with the community extensively over the last year, and that input has been included in the development of the draft Masterplan and stage one designs.

The work previously endorsed in the Plan of Management, as well as specialist advice from architects and engineers on best practice has also contributed to the draft Masterplan, and what we believe is a solid foundation for creating the right future for Blackheath Soldiers Memorial Park.

“I encourage anyone who knows and loves the park to have a look at the drafts and provide your feedback. We really do need your input to ensure we create the best possible future for this site.”
