Blue Mountains City Council is inviting the community to review and comment on draft designs for several new pathways and cycle links being delivered under Council’s Active Transport Links Program.

The draft designs have been developed following earlier rounds of community consultation, which helped shape the proposed routes and priorities for each location.

They also take into consideration specific constraints and opportunities present at each site, including terrain, vegetation, drainage and existing infrastructure.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “This next round of consultation is an opportunity for the community to view the designs of some of the city’s high priority links and provide feedback before detailed design and construction planning begins.”

The projects include a 3.8km off-road pathway between Winmalee and Yellow Rock, and several smaller projects located in Glenbrook, Woodford, Hazelbrook, Bullaburra, Wentworth Falls, Leura and Blackheath.

“The Active Transport Links Program is focused on improving connections within and between our towns and villages, linking people with the places they want to go, whether that be schools, shops or public transport.”

Council’s Active Transport Links Program is a long-term initiative to improve safety, connectivity and accessibility for walkers and bike-riders across the Blue Mountains.

The program identifies priority projects across the Blue Mountains and aims to design and deliver up to 30km of new active transport infrastructure for the city.

The projects currently on consultation are proudly funded by the NSW Government.
