Council is inviting the community to have their say on the next stage of the Neighbourhood Parks Program, with draft designs now released for the upgraded playground at Thomas Park in Blaxland East.

Residents are asked to choose between two design options that aim to reflect the needs and priorities expressed by the community during earlier consultation.

This follows the recent release of two draft designs for Medlow Bath Park in Medlow Bath for feedback.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said “Thomas Park holds a special place in the hearts of the Blaxland community.

“These draft designs reflect what residents told us they wanted — more inclusive, engaging, and fun spaces for children of all ages.

“We’re really looking forward to hearing what the community thinks of these final design options.

“This is about creating vibrant, accessible parks that bring people together.”

The proposed playground designs encourage inclusive play, support the development of gross motor skills, and provide diverse activities for children of all abilities.

Residents are encouraged to review both designs and complete a short survey to let Council know which design they prefer. The Thomas Park designs are open for consultation until 30 May 2025.

Draft designs Golden Horizons in Hazelbrook will also be released shortly.

Last year Council completed phase one of the consultation process for another four parks in the program: Melrose Park, Katoomba; Wilson Park, Wentworth Falls; Bundah Park, Winmalee; and Hall Park, Mount Riverview, and expect to present design options for these parks to the community around August this year.

The Neighbourhood Parks Program is funded by the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) program.
