Creative Industries Expert Comes to the Blue Mountains
Monica Davidson, business advisor and creative industries expert, will visit the Blue Mountains to present a series of workshops for the Blue Mountains creative community on how they can transform their creative business. Monica is a writer and filmmaker by trade who learned how to run a successful creative business and now shares that knowledge with others.
On Thursday 15th March, Monica Davidson will give a free presentation for Blue Mountains creatives – ‘Get Ready for the Boom’, providing information and motivation for creative professionals of the Blue Mountains, and an opportunity for local industry to connect and network. In addition, on Friday 16th March, Monica will present 2 amazing workshops at the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub in Springwood. The workshops have been heavily subsidised through the Business Connect program and will be 3 hrs long for under $30 per workshop.
The two workshops -Top Ten Tips for Creative Business and Marketing Strategy for Creative Businesses are tailored specifically to creative people who are (or want to be) self-employed, and the tips are relevant no matter what your profession – filmmakers, writers, musicians, designers, visual artists, performers – all can benefit from a quick introduction or refresher to the basics of creative business.
“We know we have world-class creative talent here in the Blue Mountains, but what we’ve found through our work with the Creative Industries Cluster is there’s a real demand amongst creatives for business skills training and knowledge sharing,” said BMEE CEO Bernie Fehon.
In her workshops Monica discusses her own experiences, and shares examples from the 500-plus people she has mentored through the process of starting and building their creative businesses.
