Council tree works progress at Wentworth Street Blackheath
The essential arborist works started as planned on Monday 21 July and are expected to be complete by 21 September 2025.
“The tree operations at Wentworth Street, Blackheath are progressing according to plan and I’d like to thank the Blackheath community for their input and their continued patience while our specialist arborist crews undertake this important remedial work,” Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said.
“The work so far has involved cleaning up past storm damage and removing broken tree branches that have affected the tree structure, while maintaining the aesthetics of the streetscape.
“We are mindful of maintaining the trees for the safety of the general public, while taking into account each tree’s age, species and location. If anyone has concerns, they are welcome to contact Council’s Urban Forest team.”
The work is being staged in sections and started on Wentworth Street between Prince George and Leichhardt Streets, progressing towards Govetts Leap Road and continuing to Hat Hill Road. It is being conducted during daylight hours, typically between 7am and 5pm, Monday-Friday, weather permitting.
Temporary road closures will be necessary and Council will aim to keep disruption to a minimum. There will be access for residents and emergency services and if anyone has difficulty accessing the work zone for deliveries or other essential services, they can speak directly with the traffic controllers onsite. (We ask that all interactions with traffic controllers and onsite workers are respectful.)
On-street parking along sections of Wentworth Street may be restricted during works and residents will be notified in advance of changes.
This project is funded with a grant from The Australian Government, under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement.
