Mayor Mark Greenhill at Echo Point. Upgrades will enhance the experience of this special place, overlooking The Three Sisters.
In mid-October, Council will start work on upgrades to enhance Echo Point for the community and visitors.

The works include:

  • a new gathering space (amphitheatre)
  • a new Prince of Wales Lookout
  • an accessible, night-lit boardwalk connecting the lookouts, amphitheatre and Council’s accredited Visitor Information Centre, and
  • security bollards and CCTV.

There will be partial closures of Echo Point during the construction, between October 2019 and up to August 2020. We apologise for any inconvenience during this period.

Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said Council is thankful to have received matched funding from the Federal Government’s National Stronger Regions grant program for this project.

“Echo Point is one of the most popular visitor destinations in NSW and we want it to be easily accessible, and safe, for everyone who comes to experience this special place,” he said.

“A highlight of the upgrades will be the creation of a gathering space that has been designed in consultation with Gundungurra and Darug Traditional Owners, to provide an impressive and immersive experience for all those who visit the site.

“We want the special value of this place to the Traditional Owners to be appreciated by everyone, so that they take away a deeper appreciation of the complexity and beauty of Aboriginal culture.

“It is also great that we will be able to reopen the Prince of Wales Lookout that has been closed for 10 years, and provide a 140-metre accessible, night-lit elevated walkway.”
