Council presents draft design options for more neighbourhood parks

Council is inviting the community to have their say on the next stage of the Neighbourhood Parks Program, with two draft design options released for Wilson Park, Wentworth Falls; Melrose Park, Katoomba; Bundah Park, Winmalee; and Hall Park, Mount Riverview.

The designs will be on display until 10 November, with onsite consultation sessions scheduled at each park.

Mayor Mark Greenhill said the draft designs are based on the feedback Council received from the community in the first stage of consultation.

“These parks are vital spaces for families and residents, and the draft designs reflect the ideas and priorities the community has already shared with us,” Cr Greenhill said.

“This is about making sure every neighbourhood has a park that is welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for all ages.

“Now is the time for residents to look at the options and let us know which design they believe will best meet the needs of their community.”

In 2024, Council carried out the first round of community consultation, hearing from local families, schools, sporting clubs, and community organisations.

Based on this feedback, two designs have been developed for each park.

The Neighbourhood Parks Program is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) Program.

Cr Greenhill said it is important to remember that Council is working to strict funding guidelines in delivering the parks, and not everything can be included.

“Items such as toilets or shade sails are beyond the scope of this project,” Cr Greenhill said. “However, all feedback we receive is considered and may be used to source future grant opportunities.”

Residents are encouraged to review both designs and complete a short survey to let Council know which design they prefer.
