Following this week’s severe weather and high winds, Blue Mountains City Council is offering residents an additional FREE green waste service to help clear vegetation.

We understand that as a result of conditions over the past few days, many properties now have excess green waste, including fallen tree branches and debris.

To assist, Council is offering an extra booked waste service from today, Thursday 3 July, until the end of the month. The extra service must be booked by Thursday 31 July.

This is in addition to Council’s regular two services, whereby all residential properties are entitled to two free Booked Waste Services, each allowing for the disposal of up to four cubic metres of waste.

There are different Booked Waste Service options, and residents can choose which combination to use for their three FREE services.

  • Kerbside collection service (bookings open for July)
  • Kerbside chipping service (available during August)
  • Facility drop-off service, including tree branches (pre-book with next-day drop off generally available)

“We understand these weather events can cause a lot of stress and frustration,” said Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill.

“In recent years, Council has introduced new services and increased flexibility to support residents to manage unplanned waste from their properties – whether it be from natural disasters or storm events such as the one we’ve just experienced.

“This extra service, available this month, will further assist residents to help clear green waste.

“We urge everyone to stay safe during this time.”
