Council Meets with Christian Democratic Party to Discuss Local Issues

Archived 16 Jan 2018 - Posted: 21 Nov 2017
Mayor Stephen Lesslie and members of Council’s Administration met with The Honourable Mr Paul Green MLC of the Christian Democratic Party last Tuesday at Parliament House.

“We had a broad ranging discussion with Mr Green in which we were able to advise him of our fears and concerns regarding the potential closure of the rail link between Lithgow and Mount Victoria due to the state government’s purchase of wide-bodied trains from Korea”, Cr Lesslie said.

“We also discussed the issue of mental health in the Lithgow region.  As a member of the NSW Parliament’s Committee on Children and Young People, which is currently inquiring into the prevention of youth suicide, Mr Green was particularly interested to hear of Lithgow’s recent experiences and local initiatives such as the Walk ‘n’ Talk.

“Our meeting with Mr Green was part of our continuing program to engage with a broad cross section of political parties to promote the interests of the people of Lithgow,” Cr Lesslie said.
